Our student body represents over forty different nationalities.
Educating global thinkers
Our students are problem solvers, critical thinkers and collaborators equipped to succeed in the world of tomorrow.
All of our IB Diploma Programme students have received offers from top universities around the world.
The IB Diploma is a highly prestigious internationally recognized pre-university qualification, which is accepted for entrance to universities in Italy and to those of another 140 countries in the world.
In 2014 all of our students passed the IB Diploma; the percentage of students achieving over 40 points was 18% (the World Average is only approximately 8%).
This is why the acceptance rate for our IB Diploma students into Higher Education Institutions worldwide was 100%.
Rome International School offers Cambridge University’s prestigious International General Certificate of Secondary Education in the first two years of High School (Grades 10 and 11).
The internationally recognised Cambridge IGCSEs provide an excellent academic education for the first stage of High School preparing students for the challenges and demands of the IB Diploma Programme.
It combines an exam-based approach with a focus on research, problem solving and inquiry-based learning.
The IB Diploma requires students to study six subjects, at least from the Mother Tongue, Language Acquisition, Humanities, Science, Mathematics and the Arts.
This range of subjects enables students to potentially study any discipline at university level (depending on their Higher Level subjects). Three of the subjects are studied at Higher Level, and students obtain greater depth in these choices.
Our students’ destinations include: Imperial College, Brunel, Santa Barbara, Exeter, Central St Martin’s, Institut Paul Bocus, City University of London, University of Pennsylvania, LUISS, Bocconi, Politecnico di Milano… and many more!
“I chose the RIS IB programme because it offers an excellent route to university study.
It cultivates an international mind-set, it creates independent learners and strong writers and encourages them to be critical thinkers and develop inquisitive and interpretative skills. The IB is a fantastic educational programme, designed to meet the needs of a constantly changing world, to prepare students for university and to allow them to find their strengths and life-long interests and become true world citizens”.

We also offer excellent preparation for the Italian State exam at the end of Grade 9, Terza Media, if desired by families.
“Rome International School is the school of tomorrow.“
The IB Primary Years Programme puts children at the center of learning. We make them think about what they are learning and why. All teaching and learning works towards prompting students towards taking meaningful action as result of what they have learnt”.

Students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), the most advanced international programme for elementary schools.
The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside. It is a framework guided by six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, explored using knowledge and skills derived from six subject areas. *(www.IBO.org)
We also offer extra curricular French, Spanish and Chinese language courses for Grades 3 to 6, with the possibility to continue these courses of study in the Middle and High School.
“The unique care and approach that Rome International School exhibits on a day to day basis in such a vibrant community has had a very positive impact on my two children.
It helped them to settle comfortably in almost no time into a new environment. My thanks extend to all the teachers and staff of Rome International School.”
